Questions

How it counts, how it works, and what happens to your voice.

A speech timer does one job: it tells you where you are without making you look at a clock. This one uses three lights. Nothing shows until you reach the shortest time in your slot. Green means you have reached the minimum. Yellow means you are close to the end and should start wrapping up. Red means time is up.

Clubs and classrooms use the same idea because a colour is readable from across a room and does not break a speaker’s train of thought. Pick a slot, press start, and put the screen where you can see it. Use full screen on a laptop or a projector.

If you turn on the pace summary, the page listens while you speak and shows your words per minute at the end, with the same bands as the speaking speed test.

  1. Pick your slot. Choose a length, or set your own shortest and longest time.
  2. Press start. Put the screen where you can see it. Full screen works on a projector.
  3. Watch the light. Green at the shortest time, yellow to wrap up, red when time is up.

Nothing shows until you reach the shortest time. Green is the minimum, yellow means start wrapping up, and red means time is up.

Match the time you were given. One to two minutes suits a short answer and five to seven suits a prepared speech. You can also set your own shortest and longest time.

Yes. Press Full screen and the whole display turns the color of the light.

It asks your browser to keep the screen awake while the timer runs. If your browser does not allow that, the timer still works but the screen may dim.
