Yoodli Alternatives: AI Speech Coach Apps Compared (2026)

By Noam Shemla · Community & Practice

We make Exprea, which is one of the apps on this list. We have tried to make the comparison useful anyway: every fact about another product comes from its own website or its own App Store listing, checked on 25 September 2026, and for most kinds of speaker we name an app that is not ours.

First, what kind of help do you want?

Most of these apps fall into one of four groups, and picking the group matters more than picking the app.

  • Practise a conversation with an AI. Yoodli, VirtualSpeech.
  • Get feedback on a recording of yourself. Orai, Speeko, PatterAI, Exprea.
  • Get nudges live, during real meetings. Poised.
  • Improve your English pronunciation. ELSA Speak.

Exprea is the only one on the list that also puts you in front of real people every week.

One app on this list is closing

Poised's homepage says it is "shutting down on 10/8/2026" and is moving users to a new product called Shortcut by Poised. If you use Poised for live feedback in meetings, plan for that now.

Which one we would pick, by situation

English is not your first language and pronunciation is the problem. ELSA Speak. It is built for exactly this, and none of the public speaking apps, ours included, is a pronunciation tutor.

You want to rehearse sales calls or difficult conversations. Yoodli, especially if your employer is paying. VirtualSpeech if you also want structured courses or VR.

You want a phone app for short daily practice. Speeko or Orai. Both are mature mobile apps with thousands of ratings (4.7 and 4.6 on the US App Store). Exprea currently runs in the browser.

You want feedback during your real meetings. Poised was the obvious answer, but read the note above.

You want to speak to a room, and you want real people listening. This is what Exprea is for: an AI coach that measures your recordings, plus weekly live sessions online and in Dublin where you speak to other members and hear back from them.

What to look for in any of them

Does it tell you how it measures? A score with no explanation is hard to act on. We publish our method in full, including where our own instrument breaks.

Does it measure the thing you care about? Filler words are easy to count, so every app counts them. Structure, and whether anyone remembered your point, are harder, and fewer apps try.

Will you use it next week? The best app is the one you open often. A cheaper app used every day beats a better one used once.

How we checked

Every product fact comes from that product's own website or App Store listing, read on 25 September 2026. Where a company's own pages disagreed with each other, we used the figure on its main pricing page. If anything here is wrong or out of date, email [email protected] and we will correct it.
